Wisconsin follows 2010 ADA Standards plus state amendments. Automatic sliding doors must have opening force no more than 5 lbf, hold-open time at least 5 seconds, and manual backup operation. Annual NFPA 80 inspection is required for all fire-rated doors — missing that puts you in violation of Wisconsin SPS 362.

Replace the door if the frame is rusted through or the door panel is dented beyond repair — a dented fire door loses its UL listing. Also if the door fails fire rating inspection due to gaps over 1/8 inch or missing label documentation. For sectional doors, when the bottom panel is warped from temperature differential or the track has 1/16-inch deep grooves, replacement beats patching. If spring replacement and track repair would cost more than half of a new door, we'll tell you straight up.
